Context and background:

Alicia was composed around the time of the Hurricane with the same name. A small but powerful tropical cyclone that hit the Greater Houston area in August 1983. Even though I grew up on an island this was my first time experiencing a Hurricane. With each note of the melody line there is an accompanying eerie sound of the wind blowing. The song speeds up and slows down like the wind in that hurricane. Accompanying instrument effects help to create the vast noises heard during this frightening weather event.
